SNBTS is the specialist provider of safe, high-quality, blood, tissues and cell
products and services in Scotland. Our key priority is to ensure that NHS Scotland
has enough blood to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Scotland. We ensure that blood, tissues and cells are available whenever patients need them.
I have had the pleasure of working in this role for the past six years, and it is one that I find
especially rewarding. I work across all directorates within SNBTS across Scotland, which affords me the opportunity to interact with our fantastic donors and patients — making the impact of our work feel all the more real. I can even be found once a month donating platelets myself, often multitasking with my work laptop open during a Teams meeting!
Prior to joining SNBTS, I worked in the Life Sciences, Medical Devices, and Pharmaceutical industries since 2005. In the early years, I held various positions in both quality and hands-on production environments, but validation roles are where I found my niche — and my career has flourished ever since. Over the years, I have worked at SAFC Biosciences (now Merck), BioReliance (also Merck), and Merck itself, followed by time spent at GSK and DSM-Firmenich before moving into my current role.
